The history of my favourite photograph

Really this isn´t a photograph, but is a mural painting, declared a national monument in my country, that i like very much. Julio Escámez was the artist, who paint it at 1957 to the old pharmacy Farmacia Maluaje, at present called Drogueria Alemana, localised in Concepcion.

The mural shows, or better said, symbolises some historical facts about Chilean medicine; it was divided in three sections, left side, centre side and right side, each one of which are associated with an particular event.

The left side (up side of the image) symbolises the relationship between humankind and nature, from where we recollect or extract any substance needed to  the health care as medicinal herbs, and the role of nature in mapuche traditions. The centre side (centre of the image) symbolises the transition between the natural medicine and modern medicine; health care depends on priests and physicians. Finally, the right side (down side of the image) symbolises the advance towards contemporary medicine, which depends on role of education, investigation and public work; we can observe for example scientific studies, lab analysis, an anatomy class and a vaccination campaign.

I like this mural since it represents the evolution of national health care in a well summarised way, that can be understood from normal people to university students; also, a feel it close to me for my compromise with my personal studies.
